Vice Commodore's Report

I sincerely hope everyone is staying safe and warm during these frigid temperatures. Khrissie and I have chosen the theme for the 2027 Chesapeake Commodores Club Ball to be “Celebrate America” and are asking each club to pick a state. Individual club themes will be developed around the state you choose. We are very excited and hope you will plan to join us at the Princess Royale January 8 through 10. We will have some new activities, contests and prizes for attendees to participate during the weekend. The weekend will not just be a celebration of America but a celebration for all of the Yacht Clubs around the Bay. We are all lovers of the water, boats, and friendships. Khrissie and I feel very blessed to be part of such an amazing community and appreciate you so much.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to Assistant Entertainment Officer, Deb Ashley if you have additional questions about the theme, hospitality rooms, etc. Deb will be happy to help. You may also contact Entertainment Officer Rich Sokol for any other questions. Rich and Deb have already been hard at work and we thank them.

The Chesapeake Commodores Club each year presents an award to a Yachts Person of the Year. Please review the following requirements and if you know someone who deserves this prestigious award, please contact me so they can be considered.

The decision will be made at the November meeting. The deserving nominee will receive a Yacht Person of the Year plaque at an Official Ceremony. The Yacht Person of the Year Nomination Form can be found on our website http://chesapeakecommodoresclub.com/forms.php

The Qualifications are as follows:

1) Nominee must be active in most yachting affairs.

2) Nominee must have made an outstanding contribution to his/her club or other yachting organization, such as Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary, etc.

3) Nominee need not be a member of the Submitter's Club, Power Squadron, or Coast Guard Auxiliary.

4) Selection of the nominee should be considered on the basis of the nominee being active in boating education, search and rescue mission(s), rendering assistance to fellow yachtsperson(s), or any other outstanding performance during the current yachting season.
